Designers Craft owner Michael Midkiff, originally from Kealakekua,
Hawaii began his world travels as a high school student attending
Woodstock
School in India's Himalayan foothills.
Concurrent with starting Designers Craft, Michael worked for EOS
Technologies in Tucson as their large telescope assembly and
test supervisor. Michael supervised the construction and remote
site installation of large, high precision optical telescopes
for universities and government organizations. Michael spearheaded
the construction and installation of the Himalayan
Infrared Optical Telescope for the Government of India, the
world's highest at 16,000 ft. in the Kashmir Himalayan foothills,
and the MAGNUM
telescope for the University of Tokyo on Haleakala, Maui and the
four
Keck Outrigger Telescopes for NASA/JPL to be located on Mauna
Kea, Hawaii.
Additionally, Michael spent 15 years working for the University
of Arizona's Flandrau
Science Center as Deputy Director and for the Canada-France-Hawaii
Telescope Corporation on Mauna Kea in Hawaii. Michael is a
graduate of the University of Arizona.
Based in Tucson, Michael frequently travels abroad seeking out
interesting antique furniture and architectural elements. Michael's
favorite areas for sourcing merchandise are India, China and the
Thai/Burmese border.
Michael is available as a consultant in the areas of US and India
business start up, import and export, trade relations and as a
project manager for complex site work.
Michael is a great believer and pomoter of meditation which he
attributes to his deep seeded happines and success in life.
